Homemade Eco-friendly Hair Masks That Are Light On the Planet and Your Wallet

We all want frizz free smooth healthy hair that uses eco-friendly products that are non toxic and it’s even better if it can reduce waste. After a long time of being in the salty water and living active lifestyles we know first hand how easily hair can become dried out and that the best hair to manage is hydrated healthy hair. These are our own recipes straight from our kitchen that we’ve also found are great to make using leftovers or during seasons of abundance as it will help to reduce food waste and continue to create sustainable products

Summer Hydrating Natural Hair Mask

Remove dryness that can happen during summer both from swimming and being out in the sun, this mask will quench the hair instantly and last for days. We recommend doing this hair mask every week. Just remember simple is always best but we recommend experimenting with your own blends too!

Ingredients:

  • 3 tbsp Coconut Oil
  • 1/2 Avocado
  • 1 Egg White
  • 1 tbsp Apple Cider Vinegar

Method:

Whip everything up on the day that you are intending to use it as this one won’t keep, place on dry or damp hair and leave on for 20-30 minutes, it’s best to wrap a towel around the hair to help it stay put or clip up so it’s out of the way.  When rinsing out use lukewarm water to remove as we need to be mindful of the eggs.
